New Product Platform Offers Simple Web Interface and Normalized Metadata

NARM has completed Phase 1 of its NARM Product Platform, an updated version of the organization’s 15-year-old Distributor Database for physical commerce partners. Starting today, the product database will feature a new, streamlined web interface that allows for simpler queries and improved search options while providing uniform metadata that will allow retailers to more accurately populate their backend systems. NARM and NPD Unveil Results of Research on Consumers, Music Discovery

NARM and leading market research company The NPD Group today released findings of a joint study that examined the ways consumers discover new music. The report indicates that while music discovery is still vital to the industry, it applies differently to various consumer groups, and it has changed significantly since the organizations last studied the topic in 2007, as television and social media and other digital services have emerged as major influencers. “Countdown To CMA” Essay Contest Winners Announced

NARM and RIAA today announced the winners of the “Give the Gift of Music” (GTGOM) campaign’s autumn essay contest that asked fans to share how a current CMA Awards nominee’s music has inspired them. From about 700 thoughtful entries, speech-language pathologist Jennifer Dotson from Goodlettsville, Tenn. was selected as the grand prize winner for her heartfelt essay describing how Lady Antebellum’s music helped one of her students to learn, grow and express himself.
