TOM SILVERMAN TO RECEIVE
2010 INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD
03.01.10 — NARM announces that Tom Silverman, the founder, chairman and CEO of Tommy Boy Entertainment, will be honored with the organization’s Independent Spirit Award at the 2010 NARM Convention. The NARM Independent Spirit Award was established in 2009 to recognize a music industry executive who embodies the spirit of new thinking, entrepreneurship and success in the industry.
LEIBER & STOLLER TO RECEIVE
NARM ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
02.17.10 — NARM announces that legendary songwriting duo Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller will receive the 2010 Outstanding Achievement Award for Musical Collaboration. They will be honored on Mon., May 17, in Chicago, during NARM’s Annual Convention. The duo’s works span six decades, hit the charts in the U.S. or the U.K. 76 times, and include Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog” and “Jailhouse Rock.”
JIM URIE NAMED 2010 PRESIDENTIAL
AWARD RECIPIENT
02.08.10 – NARM announced that it will honor music industry leader Jim Urie with the organization’s coveted Presidential Award for Sustained Executive Achievement. Mr. Urie is the President and CEO of Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD), a division of Universal Music Group, which is the world’s largest music company. He will receive the Award at the 2010 NARM Convention in Chicago in May.
