Best Buy's Wade Fenn To Deliver NARM
Keynote
Wade Fenn, President of Entertainment
and Strategic Business Development for Best Buy Co., Inc.,
will deliver the Keynote Address at the Closing Business
Session on Thursday, March 12, during the 2002 NARM Convention
& Trade Show featuring the Association for Independent
Music.
In his present position, Fenn is
responsible for developing business initiatives within the
companyıs home and personal networks and entertainment
ecosystems. He recently led a team whose work culminated in
the strategic alliance with Microsoft Corp.
"It's no accident that Best Buy has
several times been the winner of NARM's Large Retailer of the
Year Award," said NARM President Pamela Horovitz.
"Clearly, Wade Fenn has been a key factor in making Best
Buy the innovative entertainment marketing force it has become
and will have much insight to offer about the changing face of
music retailing."
Wade Fenn joined Best Buy in 1980, and
during his 21-year tenure, the company has grown from a $4
million to a $21 billion corporation. He has served as a
salesman, store manager, district manager, regional vice
president, and senior vice president of sales.
As senior vice president of sales from
1991-95, Fenn was charged with 100 retail stores and national
operations. Notably, he directed the successful competitive
effort against Highland Superstores and Circuit City's
entrance into the Midwest.
Later named Executive Vice President of
Marketing, Fenn was responsible for all marketing,
merchandising, advertising, and inventory teams. He led a
re-engineering initiative with Andersen Consulting called
"Process to Profits," which sought to revitalize
assortments, advertising effectiveness, and supply chain
initiatives.
NARM serves the music retailing community
in the areas of advocacy, networking, information, education,
and promotion. The Association's more than 1,000 members
include retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and suppliers of
products and services. NARM has joined with the Association
for Independent Music to blend AFIM events into the 2002 NARM
Convention & Trade Show.
