Live Auction Appearance Will Benefit The NARM
Scholarship Foundation
Veteran
rocker Peter Frampton will appear live at the NARM Convention & Trade Show’s
Scholarship Foundation Banquet on Monday, March 12, to accept a special NARM
Best Seller Award and to help auction a framed 1976 Rolling Stone magazine cover signed by screenwriter Cameron Crowe.
The
Rolling Stone cover signed by Crowe
(recently nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay Almost Famous) features none other than Frampton himself, who was
the subject of the article Crowe wrote for that issue of the magazine. Along
with the magazine, the winning live auction bidder will receive a guitar signed
by Frampton and a copy of his latest CD, a re-issue of his record-breaking Frampton Comes Alive, the best-selling
live album of all time. Frampton’s special NARM Best Seller Award will
recognize this unparalleled achievement.
“We are
delighted to be able to recognize Peter Frampton with this award,” notes Pat
Daly, Executive Director of the NARM Scholarship Foundation. “Having him
present while a classic piece of music history is auctioned will be especially
meaningful to an audience who truly appreciates the influence his music has had
on our industry.”
In
addition to the live auction, NARM will announce during the dinner portion of
the evening’s gala the winners of the Scholarship Foundation’s Fourth Annual
Silent Auction. The silent auction offers Convention & Trade Show attendees
the chance to bid on entertainment and sports memorabilia, fine wines, artwork,
and other miscellaneous items. In the past three years, the silent and live
auctions have raised more than $75,000 and provided 13 scholarships.
The
Scholarship Banquet gala recognizes the outstanding students who receive
scholarships awarded by NARM’s Scholarship Foundation. This year, 32 worthy
students will receive scholarships.
The
evening will also feature live musical performances by 2K Sounds 14-year-old
Pop singing veteran Brooke Allison; Rykodisc/Trumpet Swan Records’ fiercely
talented and individualistic Sophie B. Hawkins; and Virgin Records’
category-defying Blue Man Group.
The NARM
Scholarship Foundation affords industry companies or individuals the
opportunity to provide educational financial assistance to NARM member company
employees, or to the children or spouses of their employees. Since the
inception of the Foundation in 1966, NARM has awarded nearly 600 grants to
deserving students,
representing a total of more than $5 million in financial assistance.
NARM
