The
National Association Of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) announced the winners of
its 2000-2001 Best Seller Awards at a luncheon during the organization’s 43rd
Annual Convention in Orlando on Tuesday, March 13. It also presented a special award to singer/songwriter Peter
Frampton, whose album, Frampton Comes
Alive, was recognized as the Best Selling Live Recording Of All Time.
Best
Seller winners are based on SoundScan figures for the period between January
22, 2000, and February 10, 2001.
SoundScan currently tracks, at the point-of-sale, more than 85% of all
the recordings sold in the United States from more than 18,000 retail
locations.
