Legendary Atlantic Artist To Perform At Awards Banquet

Legendary recording artist Rod Stewart will receive the Chairman’s Award For Sustained Creative Achievement during the 43rd Annual NARM Convention March 11-14 in Orlando, Florida. Stewart will give an hour-long concert at the Awards Banquet, where he will accept his award.

One of Rock’s truly timeless voices, Stewart has sold almost 68 million albums worldwide over the course of an enduring solo career. A 10-time Grammy nominee, he also received the Brit’s Longtime Achievement Award in England in 1993. In 1994, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a discography that includes such memorable works as MTV Unplugged … And Seated, Vagabond Heart, Downtown Train, Tonight I’m Yours, Foolish Behavior, Blondes Have More Fun, Never A Dull Moment, and Every Picture Tells A Story.

“NARM’s music retail, wholesale, distribution and supplier members — on whose behalf we bestow this prestigious Award — applaud Stewart’s extremely successful career,” said Jim Donio, NARM’s Executive Vice President. “This award fittingly demonstrates how much NARM members appreciate the contributions Stewart has made to the music industry. His recordings will forever be in the hearts, minds and memories of music lovers the world over.”

Stewart joins an illustrious list of Chairman’s Award recipients, which includes Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Nat King Cole, Stevie Wonder, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Kenny Rogers, and Liza Minnelli.

Looking forward, Stewart will make his much-awaited Atlantic Records album debut with Human, a striking new collection of inspired songs, touching melodies and stirring performances to be released in February. From the flamenco-flavored “Human” to the balladry of “Roll Back Into Your Arms” and the cool, smoky “If I Had You,” Stewart showcases his ability to express the heart and soul of the song in a way that set him apart from artists past, present and future.
