Katy Perry Accepts Artist Of The Year Award At Music Biz 2012

Multi-platinum recording superstar Katy Perry received the NARM Artist of the Year Award at the Music Biz 2012 Awards Dinner Party on Thursday, May 10. NARM President Jim Donio presented Perry with the award as she had a banner year in 2011, tying Michael Jackson’s record for most No. 1 singles from one album when five tracks from her Capitol Records sophomore release, Teenage Dream, topped the charts. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in August 2010, achieved double Platinum certification in the U.S. and has sold more than 5.5 million copies worldwide. The album also earned four Grammy nominations in 2011, including Album of the Year, and two in 2012 for the single “Firework.” Now, with the release of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection on March 26, Perry is expected to continue her success into 2012 and beyond.
