NARM To Honor Cyndi Lauper With Award For Creative Achievement
Marlton, NJ – April 14, 2010: NARM, the music business association, announces that it will recognize iconic and inventive musical artist Cyndi Lauper with the Chairman’s Award for Sustained Creative Achievement. Celebrating her successful musical career, Lauper will receive this coveted honor at the NARM Annual Convention on Monday, May 17 in Chicago.
Lauper’s musical talent has been attracting attention since 1985 when she won the Best New Artist Grammy for her debut album, “She’s So Unusual.” She became the first female artist in history to have five top-10 singles from a debut album, and over the years, she sold more than 25 million albums globally. Throughout her career, she has won numerous accolades as a singer, musician, actress, and writer.
In addition, Lauper has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, 2 American Music Awards, 7 American Video Awards, and 18 MTV Video Music Awards.
In addition, Lauper is a committed human rights activist, and founder of the True Colors Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of gay rights.
She has been honored by many organizations for her efforts, including the Human Rights Campaign and PFLAG.

Currently being seen on NBC’s popular Celebrity Apprentice series, Cyndi is also working on her newest studio album, a record of Blues covers that will be released this June. She is also writing an autobiography that will be published by Simon & Schuster later this year.
