Company Description: RockDex is a music 2.0 startup that was launched in early 2009. A social analytics tool for music, RockDex aims to give industry professionals — from unsigned artists to major labels — the ability to monitor and measure the online traffic and conversation around their brand(s) in order to make informed business decisions. RockDex collects and analyzes all data significant for measuring bands’ and musical artists’ popularity on social networking and music data sites. RockDex monitors an ever-growing array of platforms including Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, iLike, Last.fm, Purevolume and YouTube. RockDex collates the data as it represents artists’ online buzz and presents it in a comprehensive, feature-rich dashboard that can be used to build targeted marketing strategies and evaluate their progress. By tracking fan conversation and activity over time, RockDex allows artists to engage fans, evaluate how well their online campaigns are working, and measure how events like tours, album releases, TV appearances and so forth are resonating on the social sphere.

Joined NARM Because: As a company with a vested interest in the future of the music industry, how could we not join NARM? We’ve always been fans of the business side of NARM, and we’d be honored to join the membership ranks of an association that understands and supports the role of technology and new media in the evolution of the industry. At RockDex, we’re passionate about music, and our goal is to give those who work in the industry — musicians, labels, publicists, managers, etc. — the tools to flourish in their trade. We feel that a membership with NARM will help us accomplish that goal and enhance our claim in an increasingly technology-oriented musical landscape. Having attended previous NARM Conventions, we know firsthand what a great forum it is for networking and talking business. A NARM membership will help us remain connected with the industry professionals who can profit the most from a tool like RockDex, and, in turn, we will reap the value of being in a community whose needs will shape future versions of our product.
