Oct. 22 NYC Salon Registration Now Open

(09.14.09) Registration is now open for the NARM’s first NARM Connects: Salon, which will be 4-7 PM on Thursday, October 22, at the Soho House in downtown New York City.

The debut event will consist of a panel discussion, “What Gets Measured Gets Managed,” during which experts will address the metrics for the new music economy. Confirmed participants include Moderator Dorothy Hui, Wind-up Records; Eric Garland, Big Champagne; Mark Ghuneim, Trendr; and Shannon Schlappi, RockDex.

A second presentation will be announced shortly. The special introductory fee for this event, including an open bar and hors d’oeuvres, is $49 per person. In-person attendance is limited, but a webcast option is also being made available for those unable to attend in person.

“Sales tell a great story, but they don’t tell the whole story. With streaming, social networking, file-sharing, online radio and all the ways fans consume the artist brand and content, it’s necessary to widen the scope of how you measure the success of an artist in a diverse and fractured marketplace,” notes Bill Wilson, NARM’s Director of Digital Strategy and Business Development. “The goal of this panel is to take a look at what’s being measured, what needs to be measured, and what utilities exist to help measure the broader consumption.”

This is the first salon in NARM Connects: Event Series, a line-up of exclusive salons and online seminars designed to supplement and enhance NARM’s already robust meeting, learning and networking opportunities offered through its Annual Convention and twice-yearly Industry Summits.

The NARM Connects: Salons consist of a series of exclusive, geographically-targeted, in-person get-togethers that will offer compelling speakers and panel discussions plus sponsored presentations and a mixer. These late afternoon/early evening events are designed to attract a variety of professionals from within NARM member companies, especially those involved in business development; product management; and digital sales and marketing. The schedule has been set to fit conveniently into members’ workdays and events will move to various cities to give more members opportunities to attend.

NARM is welcoming proposals for speakers and topics for future Salons from members and the industry at-large. There are also opportunities for sponsorships and product presentations. Visit the NARM web site at the following link to submit proposals and obtain further information.
