Commentary: CD Copy Management — Keeping It Safe “CD Copy
Management means improving the consumer value of the legitimate product in
ways that make the replicates inferior.” Sami Valkonen, formerly BMG’s
Senior VP of New Media and Business Development, shares his thoughts on CD
copy management in a PowerPoint presentation given at the recent IRMA
Marketing Summit. Universal Music & Video Distribution has announced a new initiative to support retailers called “U-Link.” As of January 1, Universal Music Group label and artist Web sites will feature the zip code-based locator software that will direct consumers to retail stores nearest their zip code location. U-Link also features a pull down menu of Web links that will connect consumers to the Web site of their retailer of choice. If you have any questions, please call Susan Roberts, Senior Director of New Media, UMVD NetSource, at 818-777-6025, or myself.
