Founded in 1968, Hastings Entertainment, Inc. is a leading multimedia entertainment retailer that combines the sale of new and used books, videos, video games and CDs, and trends and consumer electronics merchandise, with the rental of videos and video games in a superstore format. The company is currently seeking a Music Buyer to join their Merchandising Department.  The Music Buyer will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating and purchasing new titles to add to our selection
  • Driving sales through creative ideas and promotions
  • Managing inventory and sell-through while maximizing profits
  • Negotiating the best terms from vendors
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers
  • Staying on top of industry trends and translating those trends (where appropriate) into product offerings for stores.

Requirements:

  • Relocation to Amarillo, TX

  • Must be able to travel
  • Two years of practical experience preferred

This person will be mainly responsible for lead generation, follow up and selling of our services working under the supervision of and in collaboration with the VP of Business Development

  • Identify and analyze leads and partnership possibilities
  • Log data and create sales reports in Sales Force
  • Follow-up immediately on leads through marketing activities and initiative with guidance from VP of Business Development.
  • Achieve monthly and quarterly target numbers
  • Update and submit weekly reports and next steps related to specific opportunities
  • Grow industry knowledge and gain visibility through attending industry events
  • Coordinate conference calls, web demonstrations, and meetings

Qualifications

  • University degree
  • 2 years relevant professional experience (Music Industry experience a plus)
  • Knowledge in Social Media/Networking sites
  • Knowledge in Internet media and technology
  • Strong organizational & presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills and ability to build a positive working relationship with clients
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
