General Information & Instructions
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- ONLY employees, children and spouses of employees of NARM member companies are eligible to apply. Employee applicants must have completed at least one year of full- or part-time employment. In order for the child or spouse of an employee to be eligible, the employee must have completed at least one year of full-time employment. The Scholarship Committee will consider unusual circumstances on an individual basis.
- The competition is open to high school seniors who will enter college as freshmen in September 2012, and also to undergraduates attending college on a full-time basis.
HOW MUCH IS THE AWARD?
- Most scholarship awards will be in the amount of $6,000 and disbursed in $1,500 annual increments. In addition, scholarships in varying increments up to that amount may also be awarded.
- Scholarship awards will not become effective until the recipient has been admitted to an accredited college or university as a full-time student. The scholarship award will be sent directly to the school at which the recipient is enrolled and will be credited to their account for use in accordance with the scholarship policy of the college. The scholarship will be renewed only after NARM’s favorable review of a year-end transcript. The student is responsible for having the transcript sent to NARM.
HOW ARE THE WINNERS SELECTED?
- Scholarship awards will be made on the basis of the applicant’s financial need, high school/college record, scores on the College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT), and personal qualifications. Applicants should be aware that financial need is a primary consideration. Applications received by the NARM office must clearly indicate financial need in order to be eligible for consideration by the Scholarship Committee. However, academic achievement in secondary school and potential for success at the college level must be demonstrated as well.
- The selection of NARM scholarship winners will be made by the NARM Scholarship Committee, under the guidance of at least one member from the field of higher education who is experienced in the evaluation and selection of scholarship award applicants. Scholarship winners will be chosen in mid-April and notified immediately.
